Visitors Pavilion is the architectural centrepiece of the One Million Trees Initiative — a landmark national sustainability and landscape programme dedicated to planting one million native and adaptive trees across Qatar's industrial cities of Ras Laffan, Mesaieed, and the Dukhan Concession Area.
The pavilion itself is conceived around the concept of a garden sanctuary, integrating lush green courtyards within solid geometric structures informed by the typology of the traditional Arabic courtyard house. The spatial organisation establishes a deliberate dialogue between open and enclosed volumes, facilitating natural light penetration and cross-ventilation throughout. Natural materials and earth-toned finishes reference the surrounding desert landscape, and the incorporation of integrated greenery serves as both a programmatic and symbolic element — representing growth and a forward-looking approach to energy and environment.

The interior design operates in direct continuity with the architectural concept, employing a consistent material palette across all spaces. Vertically ribbed textured plaster, acoustic plaster ceilings, polished concrete floors establish a warm, tactile base that references regional vernacular construction. Against this restrained ground, dark warm timber — used for joinery, display plinths, benches, and reception desk cladding — introduces tonal contrast and acknowledges local craft tradition. The monolithic stone reception desk, raw-edged and grounded, reinforces the material honesty of the scheme. Exhibition content is displayed on freestanding timber-framed panels and wall-mounted formats, with track lighting providing focused, flexible illumination throughout. The overall interior language is one of contemporary vernacular minimalism: warm, spatially coherent, and calibrated to support the exhibition programme as the primary focal point of the visitor experience.
